Thornhill: Celebrate New Album Bodies with a Sold Out L.A. Show to Kickoff U.S. Tour
Obsessed is probably an understatement when it comes to talking about Thornhill. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen them live, but when I tell you every time I see and hear their music I become even more obsessed with this band. Coming straight from Melbourne, Australia, this band definitely knows how to bring a twist to modern metal especially with their new album Bodies that was released on April 4th.
The release of first single “Obsession” gives you that early nu metal sound from Deftones but still keeping it very modern and heavy with their next single “Nerv”. This album still gives you that same theatrical and melodic feel as their previous albums but still showing the amount of growth this band has achieved over the past few years since their inception. From the heavy bass sounds to grungey feel of the guitars to the unique screams and clean vocals no wonder Thornhill is growing to be such a huge hit with metalcore fans all around.
Thornhill brought on bands Banks Arcade, Ocean Grove and AVOID to join them on their first U.S. headliner tour. The night started off with Banks Arcade bringing on the energy which set the tone for the night. First time ever hearing and seeing them but they impressed me so much that I became an immediate fan of their sound from the melodic vocals to the sick rap verses just a band to look out for.

Also from Melbourne, Ocean Grove brought the groove to the Echo. The vibes they bring to the show makes you want to two step the entire night which makes sense why they are the OGs.

AVOID are the only American band on this line up but they definitely are ones to bring the party. From taking shots during their set to having over 25 people crowd surf to the stage, AVOID are a band that no one should sleep on.

Thornhill closed out the night by not only playing songs from their new album but also playing classics like “Arkangel”, “Lily & the Moon” and “Casanova”. My favorite song of the night was for sure hearing “Revolver” and “Silver Swarm”. A friend who had VIP for the show asked about the new album and Jacob the lead singer of the band said that this was their favorite album to record and that “SIlver Swarm” was heavily inspired by Batman Beyond and that it is meant to have that club vibe to it which it definitely achieved!

Overall, Thornhill is paving their way through the scene and is a band to watch out for! Catch them on their headliner tour from April to May if they are coming to a city near you and give their new album Bodies a listen! It is for sure making my list of top albums of 2025!
