One Ok Rock - Detox North American Tour 2025 at The Greek Theater

Los Angeles marked the fourth stop of One Ok Rock’s Detox North American Tour and doubled as a celebration of the band’s 20th anniversary. For Taka, the band’s vocalist, it was especially meaningful. LA has been his home for eight years since moving from Japan and this show felt personal. Joining them on tour were his roommate’s band, The Audacity, and the Australian cuties of the music industry, Stand Atlantic.

It was my first time at the Greek Theater and it was packed. The venue was impressive, there’s not a single bad seat and the design makes the entire experience feel intimate despite the size.

As the lights dimmed, the crowd erupted. One by one the band walked out building tension until Taka launched into “Puppets Can’t Control You.” From that moment the energy didn’t drop. Toru’s heavy riffs hit hard, Ryota’s distorted bass lines drove the rhythm and Tomoya’s insane drumming kept everything grounded. The band moved around the stage interacting with the crowd and feeding off the intensity of the moment.

The Detox album is their 11th studio release and a return to their rock roots: raw, emotional, and full of life. They played eight tracks from the album with standouts like “Let Me Let You Go,” “NASTY,” and “Tropical Therapy” showing the album’s range from aggressive and unfiltered to reflective and heartfelt. The emotional rollercoaster ride hit the peak during “Tiny Pieces.”

Of course longtime fans were treated to older favorites like “The Beginning.” That one hit me hard and the whole venue was singing at full volume.

Taka shared a heartfelt moment about moving to California, not speaking a word of English and now being able to fully connect with fans. Cheers and shouts of love filled the amphitheater. At one point, he even stepped over the barricade to hold hands with fans, then ran up the theater’s incline to the very back WHILE singing.

A jaw-dropping instrumental section let Tomoya obliterate his drum set, while Toru and Ryota shredded.

They ended the night with a three-song encore. “Decision” was performed featuring Tyler Carter from The Audacity. One Ok Rock closed with “We Are,” the perfect ending to an emotional, high-energy night of rock.
