Knoxville Natives Whitechapel Perform Sold Out Show in Santa Ana
When it comes to deathcore, Whitechapel are always the band to bring on that high, brutal energy. With the recent release of their new album Hymns in Dissonance, they brought on a much heavier sound and story line that really resonates into the live performance of the show.
Whitechapel brought on Brand of Sacrifice, Alluvial and 200 Stab Wounds as support for the tour. 200 Stab Wounds start the night off by bringing that raw energy with very heavy guitar riffs and intense drumming that bring a modern twist to deathcore. A perfect way to get a little taste of the night is going to continue.
Alluvial is a band I have seen live before and I am always impressed with their sets! The complex rhythm and melodic sounds this band brings to the table always get those pits started. If deathcore can be sophisticated then Alluvial is the band that can bring that forth.
Another band that I’ve seen before, Brand of Sacrifice always brings that high energy that connects so well with their fans. Their intense cinematic sound fits so perfectly well with Whitechapel’s vision that you can never doubt that you are going to have an amazing time when you see them perform.
Closing out the night is the main event that is Whitechapel. They opened up the set with a song straight out of the new album “Prisoner 666” that every single person in the crowd chanted the lyrics to just gave me the chills. They also played the title track “Hymns in Dissonance” as well as “A Visceral Retch” and “Hate Cult Ritual” to give everyone a taste of the new album. Although this is the “Hymns in Dissonance Tour”, Whitechapel did play other songs off their catalogue like “Brimstone”, “Possession”, “I, Dementia” “The Saw Is the Law” and “Doom Woods” to add a blend of the new Whitechapel with the classic Whitechapel sound. I love seeing this band live because the energy they give out and the way the fans receive it, brings me a kind of joy that only a deathcore show can bring.
If you haven’t listened to the new album definitely give it a listen and you won’t be disappointed! Catch Whitechapel on their last few tour dates and they have a few European dates starting in June.
