Dance Gavin Dance – Return of the Robot Tour
June 28, 2025 – Riverside Municipal Auditorium

Dance Gavin Dance brought their Return of the Robot Tour to Riverside with a stacked lineup that leaned into every corner of post-hardcore and heavy pop. The energy didn’t let up from start to finish.

Dwellings, from Modesto, opened the night with emotional post-hardcore riffs and clever transitions that kept heads nodding. They were tight and expressive.

Belmont, out of Chicago, followed with fast, punchy pop-punk and easycore vibes. The band tore through their set like they were headlining, and frontman Taz had nonstop energy.

The Home Team (gallery) turned the venue into their own playground. Brian Butcher’s vocals were strong and smooth, but it was the stage presence that sold it: hip thrusts, wild kicks, and synchronized spins from the band.

“Brag” and “Loud” were personal favorites, and their newest track “Worthy” felt like a crowd anthem in the making.

Then came Dance Gavin Dance, tighter and more alive than ever. With a rotating cast over the years, it’s wild how they’ve not only stayed consistent but leveled up. Jon Mess looked casual but unleashed screams that made your bones rattle.

Andrew Wells (from Eidola) handled the clean vocals bringing new energy to both classic and new material. “Speed Demon” and “Midnight at McGuffy’s” were highlights, and Andrew only seems to get better with every release.

Will Swan, still the wizard behind the guitar, had his signature tone slicing through the mix. Matt Mingus held it down on drums while Sergio Medina (Eidola, Stolas, Royal Coda etc.), stepping in on bass, brought full chaos running all over the stage, jumping like a madman, and still keeping everything locked in and groovy.

They ended strong with an encore that included “Uneasy Hearts Weigh the Most.” Moments that felt extra special live.

It’s rare to see a band this deep into their career still breaking new ground and holding the room in the palm of their hand. DGD has entered a new era, and if Pantheon is any indication, they’re not slowing down anytime soon.
