I Prevail Release New Song “Violent Nature” Amidst Split with Co-lead Vocalist Brian Burkheiser
I Prevail just released one of their heaviest songs to date. This comes after the news broke out a little over a week ago that the band had parted ways with vocalist Brian Burkheiser.
The news comes as a shock to fans since Burkheiser hasn’t performed with the band since May of last year since making the announcement that he suffers from a rare illness called Eagle Syndrome. Eagle Syndrome basically affects the jaw, throat and neck area causing immense sharp pain and as a vocalist your throat and jaw are something you have to take care of on a daily basis. Burkheiser made the news known that he had multiple surgeries done to help this issue but he still had to take time off to better his health.
I Prevail recently made an appearance at Sonic Temple when fans noticed Burkheiser was missing and rhythm guitarist Dylan Bowman was backing up Eric Vanlerberghe. Bowman has been taking over clean vocals since Burkheiser took a hiatus from performing.
Earlier this week, I Prevail had wiped all of their socials and began posting cryptic videos with the numbers 2020205053 at the end. There was a link that led you to the band’s website and to a crack the code type game with those same numbers and letters that all put in order gave you the date May 23rd, 2025 and spelled out the name of the new single, “Violent Nature”.
This is truly one of the heaviest songs ever to be released by the band. I Prevail is known for those very melodic lyrics and vocals that were brought on by Burkheiser and by probably one the best screamers out there from Vanlerberghe. Their music was always extremely relatable to fans, so hearing this song be a complete opposite of what we are used to hearing is very refreshing.
If you had to compare any of their other “heavier” songs in their discography, “Violent Nature” is on a whole new level. From the moment the song begins, you get those heavy guitar riffs and intense drums that blend beautifully with Vanlerberghe’s brutal vocals. The breakdown in this song makes you just want to either headbang so hard you wake up with the nastiest bangover or you are going to be in that pit fighting for dear life.
I Prevail are truly going to be keeping us on our toes with any future releases. Catch them this summer on the Summer of Loud Tour with Beartooth, Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, The Amity Affliction, The Devil Wears Prada, and Alpha Wolf with TX2, Kingdom of Giants and Dark Divine on select dates.
