Sometimes a new era doesn’t need a big announcement — it just kind-of starts. For Ahren Stringer, longtime clean vocalist and bassist of The Amity Affliction, that next chapter is now seen a bit more in motion drawn from some clues found on the internet.
He’s been spotted in a studio located in Mexico City, working on what looks to be the debut of a brand-new band. There’s no name out yet, no release date, and no official teaser besides that leaked demo that made the rounds earlier this year — but if the behind-the-scenes photos intercepted by Blunt Magazine and Instagram are anything to go by, it’s all very much happening.
Stringer’s not going it alone. He’s collaborating with Yung Yogi (aka Gus Farias, formerly of Volumes), producer Ana Döring, and also producer Marco Aurelio Conde, whose studio seems to be the creative base for the project. Solo music is reportedly in the mix too, but for now, the focus seems to be on this group effort but also leaves us with many questions.
In a quick chat with Blunt Magazine, Stringer called it a “clean slate.” A new band, a fresh direction, and something built from scratch. That energy definitely comes through — even in just the few details that have trickled out so far.
Of course, after reading some threads, fan reactions are seemingly split — and if you’ve spent any time doom-scrolling like me, you’ve probably seen it play out via comments. Some longtime followers are still processing the change, not totally on board with how things ended with The Amity Affliction. Others are fully leaning into the idea that this new chapter might be even better — saying they’re excited to hear what Stringer sounds like unattached from the old setup. And then there’s a whole other bunch just hoping he makes something undeniably good and successful, no matter what it could possibly be.
Meanwhile, The Amity Affliction isn’t slowing down either. They’ve been teasing new material, including a track called “All That I Remember” that’s already been played live during their recent Brazil shows. Whether it’s part of a bigger project or just a single drop, only time will tell right? — but it looks like both sides are heading into fresh territory.
So, for now, we wait. A new band. A new sound. And a lot of eyes watching to see what comes out of it. Sometimes the slow build pulls you in even more — and this one’s got that feeling like something possibly bigger might just around the corner.
