A Static Lullaby at The Observatory OC
This past summer gave a taste of the return of Chino Hills, CA post-hardcore band A Static Lullaby at the Hawthorne Heights curated Is For Lovers Festival in Los Angeles. But tonight, the official return was made at The Observatory in Orange County. This lineup was like if the Chain Reaction burst at the seams full of millennials that never forgot the music they were raised on.
Opening for ASL were The Juliana Theory, Taken, and the also returning A Thorn For Every Heart.
Static’s set grabbed ahold of our throats with songs from “…And Don’t Forget To Breathe” and held us there as they rifled through songs from their self-titled, “Faso Latido”, and their last album “Rattlesnake!” They even tossed in one of my personal favorites from the Punk Goes Pop compilation series with their epic take on Britney Spears’ “Toxic”. The night closed dripping of nostalgia with a warm wholehearted speech from lead vocalist Joe Brown and the band ripping into their 2003 anthem “The Shooting Star That Destroyed Us”.
